Terms of Service
Effective date: 15 May 2026
Plain-language summary: These are the rules for using Skolrun. Key points: you own your data, we do not sell it, you are responsible for obtaining parental consent for student records, and you can cancel at any time. Nigerian law governs this agreement.
1. Acceptance of terms
By registering a school account on Skolrun, you (the school administrator) confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are agreeing on behalf of a school or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to do so.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not register or use the platform.
2. Description of service
Skolrun provides a cloud-based school management platform that enables Nigerian private schools to manage student records, fee collection, academic results, staff records, attendance, and school communications. The platform is provided as a subscription service (SaaS).
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the platform at any time with reasonable notice.
3. Subscription plans and payment
- Starter (Free): Available to all schools at no charge, subject to the feature and capacity limits stated on the pricing page.
- Pro and School plans: Billed monthly in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Prices are as stated on the pricing page at the time of subscription.
- Payments are processed by Paystack. By subscribing, you also agree to Paystack's terms of service.
- Subscriptions auto-renew each month unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- No refunds are issued for partial months. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Enter false or misleading information about students, staff, or fees.
- Use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm parents, students, or staff.
- Attempt to access another school's data or circumvent any access controls.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy any part of the platform.
- Use the platform for any purpose that violates Nigerian law.
- Share your login credentials with persons outside your school's authorised staff.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without refund.
5. Data and privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
You own your data. Skolrun does not claim ownership of any student, staff, or fee data you enter into the platform. We process it solely to provide the service.
Data Processing Agreement (DPA): By using Skolrun, you enter into a Data Processing Agreement with us, as required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. This agreement governs how we process personal data on your behalf. A copy of the DPA is available on request at legal@skolrun.com.
Your responsibility as Data Controller: As the school administrator, you are the Data Controller under the NDPA. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental/guardian consent before entering student data into the platform, and for ensuring your use of the platform complies with applicable data protection laws.
6. Your responsibilities
- Keep your login credentials confidential and notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
- Ensure that all information entered into the platform is accurate and up to date.
- Obtain the necessary consents from parents and guardians before uploading student data.
- Comply with all applicable Nigerian laws, including the NDPA 2023, when using the platform.
- Ensure that any staff members you grant access to the platform are bound by appropriate confidentiality obligations.
7. Uptime and availability
We aim to provide reliable uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. School plan subscribers are entitled to a 99.9% monthly uptime SLA. Starter and Pro plan subscribers are not covered by an SLA but can expect best-effort availability.
Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance where possible. We are not liable for losses caused by platform downtime.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Skolrun shall not be liable for:
- Loss of data caused by your failure to maintain adequate backups.
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform.
- Losses arising from your failure to comply with your obligations as Data Controller under the NDPA.
- Losses caused by third-party sub-processors (Supabase, Paystack, Twilio, etc.) beyond our reasonable control.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall not exceed the total fees you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
9. Intellectual property
The Skolrun platform, including its design, code, and branding, is the intellectual property of Skolrun and its licensors. These terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond the right to use the platform as described herein.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate the agreement at any time. On termination:
- Your access to the platform will end at the close of the current billing period (for paid plans) or immediately (for free plans or in cases of policy violation).
- Your data will be retained for 90 days following termination to allow for export, after which it will be permanently deleted. See our Privacy Policy for full data retention details.
- You may request a data export at any time before deletion by emailing legal@skolrun.com.
11. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute arising from these terms shall be resolved by negotiation in the first instance. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to school administrators by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
